This original piece was created as a cathartic release of a cycle with my father that no longer serves me. The tree reaches toward the rose, even to its own detriment. Each petal of the rose bears spikes, yet its center glows with gold—a reminder that not everything that shines is truly gold. It symbolizes the idealized love, attainable only through effort, though it may never have truly existed.
The bottom right of the piece captures the solitude of tears cried alone, encased in a claustrophobic, heavy black. The bottom left reflects sharp-edged nostalgia, beautiful and sunlit memories, yet always with the presence of emotional unavailability, represented by deep blue.
Available only as a 10'‘x10” round canvas.
